Gus R. Benitez, Esq.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Gus came to the United States in 1966 to attend Howe Military Academy in Indiana. After graduating with honors, he attended the University of Notre Dame before continuing his education at Northwestern University, School of Law, in Chicago, Illinois. Upon completion of his Juris Doctorate, Gus was admitted to the Illinois Bar and worked for a prestigious law firm in Chicago, Illinois.
Wanting to immerse himself in trial work, Gus moved to Central Florida, passed the Florida Bar and joined the Greater Orlando Area Legal Services (GOALS), which provided free legal services to the underprivileged. In 1981, despite having no criminal defense experience, he joined the Orange County public defender’s office, where he gained invaluable trial experience and became known as a “pit bull” in the courtroom. After three successful years as a criminal defense attorney, Gus started his own law firm.
Since he began practicing law over 39 years ago, Gus has represented numerous high-profile clients and has built a reputation as an aggressive litigator and a diligent counselor of law. Known for high standards and professional ability, Gus is licensed to practice law in Florida, Illinois and Washington, D.C. He is also a licensed real estate broker and title agent, and is active in a number of local charities including the St. Joseph of Myra Foundation and the Grace Alexander Foundation.
